Susan Conrad Fine Art

Susan M. Conrad

impressionist painter

Susan Conrad was born in Binghamton, NY where her connection to art, music and nature first began.  She spent her childhood always doing something creative, from drawing to macrame to creating her own dollhouse. As a young adult, she jumped at the chance to move to New York City to study at the Fashion Institute of Technology, earning a degree in Illustration.  Entering the world of graphic design, she created works for Polygram and Chrysalis Records before becoming a freelance graphic designer for Noise International, where her work appeared in Billboard Magazine. Susan’s Graphic design experience lead her to a career in publishing that included such prominent magazines as Martha Stewart Living, Yahoo Internet Life and PC Magazine.  Rediscovering painting, she began to take landscape painting trips to such places as Amagansette NY, Provincetown MA and eventually New Mexico, Arizona and Utah. Susan studied drawing and painting at the Art Students League and floral design at Parsons School of Design. Her love of art kept tapping her on the shoulder and in 2003 she left publishing to attend the School of Visual Arts and devote herself to her art full time. She graduated in 2005 with a BFA. Currently Susan lives and works in New York City.  She incorporates all her loves - object making, painting, drawing, graphics, nature - into her art. She investigates subjects personal to her and looks for their meaning in relation to the world around her. Susan is a member of the Organization of Independent Artists and the New York Artist’s Circle.
